    Pistol Pros Firearms Training

    Pistol Pros is a firearms training company in Maryland. Our Qualified Handgun Instructors teach classes to help you obtain or renew your Maryland Wear & Carry permit and/or Handgun Qualification License (HQL). Classes are held throughout Maryland. No firearms experience is needed prior to taking our class. Our classes are beginner friendly. We look forward to training with you!

    Firearms Training

    Listed below are the current prices for services provided by Pistol Pros. Prices are subject to change without notice.

    Initial/New Maryland Wear & Carry class

    $299

    This class is for those that do NOT currently have or possess a Maryland Wear & Carry permit. This class will satisfy the training requirements for a new Maryland Wear & Carry permit. This class is a 2-day class, each day is 8 hours. Total of 16 hours. 

    Renewal for Maryland Wear & Carry class

    $199

    This class is for those that currently have and possess a valid Maryland Wear & Carry permit. This class will satisfy the training requirements to renew your Maryland Wear & Carry permit. This is a single day, 8 hour class.

    Handgun Qualification License (HQL) class

    $199

    This class is for those that want to obtain a Handgun Qualification License (HQL). This class will satisfy the training requirements for your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL). This is a 4-hour class.

    1 on 1 Training

    $99 / hour

    This 1 on 1 training session is tailored to your specific needs. Training can include but not limited to firearm fundamentals, maintenance, cleaning, and/or live-fire drills. Tell us what training you would like, and we will tailor a session for you. This training will help you become more knowledgeable and proficient with firearms.

    Private Group Training

    Rescheduling fee

    $50

    This rescheduling fee is for those that have already purchased a class and did not attend the scheduled training. If you would like to reschedule, please pay the fee and contact us with your desired dates you would like to attend. Rescheduling to a specific date is not guaranteed. Availability may be limited. It is highly recommended and encouraged to attend the classes you registered for to avoid this fee.

    Return and Refund Policy

    Pistol Pros does not offer refunds on any of the products or services we provide. All sales are final. Rescheduling is available at an additional fee. Rescheduling is only available for one year from the date of original purchase of the training class. To reschedule, pay the fee and contact us with your desired dates you would like to attend. We will verify the purchase and will then reach out to you directly to reschedule. Rescheduling to a specific date is not guaranteed. Availability may be limited. It is highly recommended and encouraged to attend the classes you registered for to avoid any additional fees.

    All applications are done online. Go directly to the MSP Licensing Portal. If you have not created an account, you must do so first.

    Once you login, scroll down to "HGP - Application for Wear & Carry Permit (Handgun Permit)" 

    Click on "Start HGP" 

    Fill out the application.

    No. No prior class or license/permit is needed in order to take the Maryland Wear & Carry class. We actually recommend that if you are interested in both the Maryland Wear & Carry permit and HQL that you take the Maryland Wear & Carry class. Taking the W&C class first would satisfy the training requirements for BOTH the W&C and HQL. Doing it this way will save you time and money!

    The renewal process should be started 90 days before the expiration date of the permit. The State of Maryland requires the application for renewal to be submitted prior to the expiration date to be eligible for renewal. Renewals will not be given if you apply after the permit expires. If the permit expires prior to the application being submitted, you must submit as a new permit.

     As long as the renewal application has been submitted in the Licensing Portal at least fourteen (14) days prior to the expiration date of the current handgun permit, you are still allowed to carry on the expired permit until you receive your renewed permit. If the application is returned to you for incompleteness and you resubmit it after the two (2) weeks, you will not be allowed to carry your handgun.​​ 

    Unfortunately, no. An expired permit is the same as no permit. Even if your permit expired yesterday, you would still need to apply for a new Maryland Wear & Carry permit. Unless you are exempt from training, you would need to take the full 16-hour class and apply for a new permit.

     ​No, unless exempt, Maryland law requires the completion of an additional eight (8) hour training course for each renewal application submitted. 

    The initial Wear and Carry permit expires on the last day of the permit holder’s birth month following two (2) years after the date the permit is issued. Basically 2-3 years, depending on when your permit is issued and your birth month.


    Renewals of a Maryland Wear and Carry permit expire after 3 years. 

    Yes, it is possible. You can apply for a non-resident Maryland Wear & Carry permit. The same requirements and application process apply to residents and non-residents. 

    You can take any of our classes except the "Renewal" class. The "New/Initial Maryland Wear & Carry class" is beginner friendly. If you would like additional training, we do offer "1 on 1 Training" but availability is limited. If you would like the "1 on 1 Training" and you do not see it available, please contact us at info@PistolProsTraining.com and we will see what we can accommodate for you. 

    Yes, all student to be at least 21 years or older. 

    Classes that are full are hidden to prevent confusion on what classes are available. If you would like to be added to a class that you don't see, please email us at info@PistolProsTraining.com with the date and general location of the class. We do not guarantee that we will get you into the class, but we will accommodate when it is possible.

    Not all states recognize or honor the Maryland Wear & Carry permit. We cover this material in class. Laws change so we do not keep an updated list here. 

     ​No. Maryland does not recognize permits/CCWs from any other state.​

    Locations are intentionally left generic. We do not disclose the exact location of classes because sometimes we use private property. The address will be given to you after you submit payment for the class, and that payment has been confirmed. Prior to class, we will contact you with the address of the class.
